Ben Veenbrink is one of the leading stadium experts in the world with nearly 25 years of experience in the venue industry. Building on his experience as a member of the management team of the Amsterdam Arena (nowadays Johan Cruyff Arena), Europe’s first multifunctional stadium (52,000 capacity), he founded The Stadium Consultancy in 2006. During the last 15 years The Stadium Consultancy successfully realised more than 100 projects in 4 continents under his leadership, including several venues for major tournaments, such as the FIFA World Cup and the UEFA EURO tournament.
Ben has been appointed a member of UEFA’s Expert Panel on Stadium Construction & Management since 2006 and he is a consultant to FIFA’s Forward Program since 2015. He was a member of the UEFA team responsible for the delivery of the stadiums for UEFA EURO 2012 and the author of UEFA’s Stadium Requirements applied for the EURO Tournaments of 2016 and later. He was a contributor and editor of the UEFA / CAFE “Access for All, Good Practice Guide” for inclusive design. Ben was one of the key authors of the new FIFA Stadium Guidelines, which will be published early 2022 and replace the 2011 edition. He has been a regular speaker on international stadium conferences.
Ben has been working as a client project manager on several stadium projects and acted as an advisor or consultant to many others. As client representative he was responsible for the delivery of several world-class stadiums. His consultancy work ranges from the execution of feasibility studies and business plans, the preparation of employer’s requirements, design reviews, compliance audits and value engineering to the preparation of operations plans, bid books and commercialization strategies as well as the execution of operational audits.
His project scope includes both new developments as well as major renovation projects, ranging from 5,000 to 70,000 seats capacity.
